Designing, writing and illlustrating a children’s book by Alan Johnston / artist

Alan Johnston will introduce you to that wonderfully vast world of children’s books and guide you through the main stages of the ‘making of’. He’ll show you pitfalls to avoid, as well as some ‘Golden rules’ to respect. We will try to find a story and develop a main character, make a storyboard and look at typography and text as sound track as well as making your book’s cover design.

As the total time for this course is very short compared to the real time needed to make a book, it would be great if participants could come as often as possible otherwise you might miss out on something!

Alan would be delighted to help you with an on going book project you may already be working on.

Please bring:
A pencil-case full of your favourite drawing/writing tools, different media from charcoal to coloured pencils, micro felt pens etc., a pair of scissors, an A3 block of Tracing paper (Papier Calque), a set-square (T-Z Dreieck) and a 30cm ruler.
